WE ARE A CUT ABOVE!
Did you know that there is a big difference between a landscaper and an arborist in Boise, Idaho?
The common customer might not know this but the truth is there is a big difference between a landscaper and an arborist and today we are going to talk about some of those key differences and how they might impact not only your landscape but your finances as well. My goal with this blog is to educate the common home owner in hopes they can make a more knowledgeable decision when hiring a tree care professional in the future.
Spikes or no spikes?
Let’s say you’re from California and you just bought a house in the North End of Boise. You are super stoked about your new digs and you want to start checking off your list the most important things to do first, tree work is one them. While your new house is exciting and new, the jungle in the back yard that has been neglected for quite some time that completely barricades you from all your neighbors might leave them thinking you are an ax murderer from Hollywood instead of Bill the software engineer the next time the wind carries over the foul smell of your pooches feces. So, you jump online and you start narrowing down the possibilities of pro’s to hire. If your trees are tall and they need to be climbed the first thing you should ask a potential pro is if they will be wearing tree gaffs (spikes) or not for the pruning/trimming.
This is important to know because if your trees are not being removed and the goal is to beautify and and make them healthy then your trees should absolutely not be climbed by someone using tree spikes, that is a landscaper. An arborist has learned the proper techniques, purchased the proper gear and acquired the proper strength needed in order to be able to work a tree without the use of tree spikes. By Puncturing small wounds through the tree’s live tissue one interrupts the vital flow of water and nutrients to the proper areas of the tree. The small wounds also attract decay causing fungus and other negative organisms and before you know it, instead of maintaining your tree’s, you are now debating if they should be remove because they are a potential hazard. The next time you need your trees climbed and pruned correctly by a certified climbing arborist from Tree Climbers International please give Primetime Pruning a call.
